Today is August 22nd, 2026, and I’m currently in Richmond. I’m about to share my life goal, my life story, my life journey.
I was born in Chengdu in 2001 and moved over to Montreal when I was 9 months old. After a few years, I moved to Metro Vancouver, and that was where I grew up. I have two younger brothers: one is 2 years younger than me, one is 4 years younger than me. One is 23, one is 21. When I speak—when I communicate with my brothers, I speak in English. When I talk with my mom, my parents, I speak in Chinese. And these are the two languages I’m fluent in, and that’s it.
I did my elementary school in Burnaby, and then I graduated from Richmond Secondary School, Richmond High. I went to UBC, I did my undergrad in International Economics. And, in terms of work experience, I’ve been a tutor, I’ve driven for Uber, I’ve done warehouse manual labor, I’ve been an assistant, done marketing, done admin job.
Just last year in 2025, in May, I quit my job as an admin and decided to become a monk. So, a Buddhist monk. Yes, I want to become a Buddhist monk.
In September of last year, I flew to Las Vegas to study and train at Pure Cultivation Temple. I’ve stayed there for over four months, and then in February this year, I flew to Taiwan and stayed in Taiwan for over three months. In between, I’ve gone back to Canada, I’ve went to Thailand, I’ve went back to China to visit my dad and to do other things.
And so after coming back from Taiwan to LA first, to attend the Dharma Assembly celebrating my Buddha Master, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s Holy Birthday, I came back to Canada because of the No Self Society project to participate in it.
Just in a week or so, I’ll be heading back to Taiwan, and stay there for a few months, then go to Sri Lanka in end of November. And then, hopefully, I’ll go back to the Vinaya Academy, Precept School. Their full name is called Zhengjue Lv Xueyuan (正覺律學院). And I’ll stay there for around four years, do my training there from a Jingren to a novice monk, and then to a full monk. Maybe—maybe it’s called a full monk, but like just a monk with all the precepts, have undertook all the precepts… taken up all the precepts. And then I might go to Bhutan.
So what is my life goal? My life goal is to attain liberation from the cycle of reincarnation. After learning Buddha Master’s Dharma Discourses and Buddha Dharma ever since I was 10 in 2011, I’ve… so I’ve been learning from then. And then during COVID, I started becoming more diligent in learning Buddha Dharma, and finally decided to become a Buddhist monk to achieve my goal of attaining liberation from the cycle of reincarnation faster. That’s the goal. And also to just achieve it.
So, it is thanks to my Buddha Master, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, which is why I’ve decided to go on this path. Amituofo.
